“Build A Settlement”

A Medieval Attempt at the
Build a City Challenge

Inspired by Sims 2 players such as Historical Simmer (YouTube / Twitch / Discord) and Maria Sido (Twitch), I’ve combined medieval-themed play with the Build A City Challenge (BACC).

Starting a new settlement from scratch seems especially fitting for medieval gameplay given the extensive population growth that took place at that time. I don’t plan to fuss too much over historical accuracy, since this is for fun and will not be as structured as my Sims 3 BACC.

The Sims 2 Build A City Challenge

Possibly originally created by clintcasey85, the Build A City Challenge is based on starting with a blank neighbourhood and slowly unlocking careers, services, buildings, etc. in order to grow the town. Others have altered the rules to suit their playstyle; I’m using a combination of the original ruleset, olivethegreat’s, and DeeDee Sims’.

I may add my rules here eventually — luckily they are much simpler than my Sims 3 BACC rules.

I’m tracking my progress using MariaSido's BACC Tracker.

Mods and Custom Content for Medieval Play

I find most of my Custom Content (CC) and gameplay mods useful for medieval-themed play through the Plumbob Keep. The mods in Sun & Moon’s Star Factory are particularly useful since they add numerous harvestables, functional farm animals, trades, and more.

I am using the “All CC Edition” which required quite a bit of searching for all the required bits. Versions will less CC are also available.
12Raben’s Tumblr also has a great collection of medieval CC finds and the mods they use.
